About Aaronic TV Reviews
Answers to several FAQs.
Who am I?
My name is Aaron Dhillon. I am a university student who has a real passion for television. Through my studies I spend majority of my free time watching television and now writing reviews to go more in-depth into every episode of whatever TV show I am reviewing.
What is my favourite TV show?
My personal favourite TV show is Lost since it was the first TV drama I ever watched and gave me more of an experience than anything else on television. However I do have a bit of bias towards the show for this reason, and I know it isn't the best show I have seen despite it being my favourite. The best show would go to either The Wire, Breaking Bad, or The Leftovers. My favourite comedy shows are Friends and Seinfeld (I plan to review both over time... a LONG time). I also have seen several anime, with my favourites being Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
How are my reviews structured?
My reviews are structured similarly to those made by Robin Pierson at thetvcritic.org. They are set into seven sections: the summary, the good, the bad, the unknown, best moment, character of the episode and conclusion. I use this format as it clearly distinguishes what I liked and didn't like in the episode while also allowing sections to show what happened, what questions I had, and highlights of the episode.
TV drama reviews tend to be longer, while my comedy reviews are shorter and more to the point. For TV dramas, I will either do episodic reviews or seasonal reviews for TV shows. For episodic reviews, I will do long posts about each individual episode. For seasonal reviews, the posts on each episode will be substantially shorter, but they will be accompanied by a long review of the overall season that the episodes belong to.

How do I score episodes?
Much like the structure, the scoring system I use comes from Robin Pierson of thetvcritic.org. To understand the scoring system in more detail head over to the thetvcritic.org/scores. In short, my scale goes from 1 to 100. The marker for a good episode is the score of 65. That may seem low to most people, but it allows to differ between amazing episodes and truly transcendent episodes. For example, if I give an episode a maximum score but I watch something better afterwards, how do I show it? To respond to that, I use this system which allows plenty of room to show the difference between episodes. As I said above, 65 is what I would call a "good" episode. Below I have a small chart that will more-or-less explain what each score means. The descriptions provided are not exact criteria that I follow when scoring episodes; they are just a simplified way for you to try to comprehend why I may have scored one episode differently from another.
1-30: The worst television possible. I've only given out one score in this range so far, and I don't expect to give out many more since I don't make a point of reviewing bad TV shows. The reason that 30 entire points on my scale will be mostly unused is because I know there are worse TV shows out there than what I review, and there should be space saved for them.
31-40: Terrible television. These episodes are not only bad, but they go the extra mile to do something that really makes me hate them.
41-49: Bad television. Episodes in this range are episodes that I do not like and did not enjoy. Typically these episodes have some sort of redeemable quality that will prevent them from scoring lower. Either that or they did not piss me off enough.
50-54: Mediocre television. This is for episodes that aren't bad enough for me to outright say they are bad, but they are still well below my expectations.
55-56: Slightly below average television.
57-58: Average/decent television. The way I use it, "average" means that these scores are more or less an equal balance of good and bad.
59-60: Slightly above average television.
61-62: Solid television. These scores aren't quite good, but they signify episodes that I enjoyed watching and thought were above average.
63-64: Good television. These are good episodes that just barely fall below my expectations of what a television episode should be.
65: My expectations for a standard good episode of television.
66-69: A very good episode of television, but isn't quite great. These scores are above my expectations and signify strong episodes.
70-72: A great episode that hits you hard enough to particularly memorable and powerful.
73-75: An excellent episode that offers a more complete experience than a great episode.
76-79: An excellent episode that is well above the marker for great, but not quite in the range of must-watch television.
80-89: Must watch television. Episodes in this range are fantastic and some of the best television out there. These are special experiences that make the most out of the story being told.
90-99: Something truly impressive and a very rare score. These are episodes that are so engaging, powerful, consistent and memorable that they score incredibly close to a perfect 100. There are no other episodes like these.
100: Literal perfection. This score will probably never be given.

What shows will I review?
I have reviewed every episode of several shows which are currently running. I try to plan my schedule accordingly and pick up new shows from time to time as I go on. I do try to do some older shows as well, though I don't do those reviews as often and they are usually either shows which I really want to review or shows which I have specifically requested to me.

In the long run I would also like to review The Wire and Breaking Bad when I have time. If you want me to review a specific show that is currently ongoing, feel free to leave a comment or email me at [email protected] and I'll see if I can fit it in my schedule. :) I will pick up other shows as I go on if I have time to catch up and watch them. My goal is to review as many shows as I can.
